Hi! I’m Jen… graduate student… archaeologist… New Yorker… and (decaf) coffee lover…

I went to Israel for the first time four years ago on a Shorashim Taglit-Birthright Israel Trip and haven’t been able to stop going back since. As a graduate student studying archaeology, I used my professional need to excavate as an excuse to return… and return. A part of being an archaeologist on excavation, in addition to the actual excavating work such as wielding a trowel and a pickaxe, is living in another place, somewhere between tourist and expatriate, for weeks or months at a time. Since my first visit, I have had the opportunity of participating on three different excavations scattered throughout Israel. So, of course, if you ever have any questions on archaeology, on being an American wandering around and getting lost in Tel Aviv, or whatever as we zigzag our away across Israel, please come and chat!

When I’m not performing hours of manual labor under the guise of research, I may be on my never-ending quest to find the best pizza in New York, learning how to salsa dance, or watching a really back chick-flick.

I am so excited about your upcoming Shorashim Taglit-Birthright Israel trip! There are going to be so many new things to see, and I am looking forward to the adventures to come.

To whet your appetite… you can go to the Shorashim Facebook page at facebook.com/shorashim, see more on Instagram @shorashim, or read more on Twitter @shorashim.

I am looking forward to meeting you all soon!!
